5 Minute Time Out Hourglass Stool for Naughty Children

Every child, even those who are considered generally well-behaved, need a time out every now and then, as punishment after doing something naughty. What better way to combine punishment and decorative form than with this kid’s hourglass stool which features a natural timer in the form of falling sand. It’s timed to fall from one compartment to the next in exactly 5 minutes making it easy to know when your child’s punishment session has come to an end.

The Time Out Timer Stool from Wisteria is based on the iconic sand timer which was a primary tool used to track the passage of time before mechanical clocks and watches. It is thought they were first seen in Europe around the 8th Century AD but from where they originated before that is unknown. The hourglasses, also known as sand timers, became popular instruments on-board ships where they became indispensable for determining distances and even lines of longitude. They were also seen in churches, factories, work places, and domestic homes where they were used to measure sermons, cooking time, and time spent on breaks from labor.

This children’s time-out stool is made from sturdy mango wood and contained fine white sand within the pair of hourglass bulbs. They are available in white or navy blue and are attractive in form and definitely highly functional as an aid in teaching your kids right from wrong. After the 5 minute time frame has elapsed, your child can return to playing or homework whilst the hourglass stool is placed back in the corner of the bedroom or playroom where it will complement existing décor and even become a stool used during non-punishment periods.

Contemporary Kid’s Play Kitchen with Built-In Sound Effects

Children love to imitate adults and the things they see around them. When it comes to the kitchen environment, a lot of things are too dangerous for little kids to play with but that needn’t mean the fun of the kitchen cannot come to them in another format. The contemporary kid’s play kitchen, as seen below, is a replica of a modern and stylish kitchen that will focus your children’s attention and provide them with hours of fun, happiness and creative endeavors.

The Lifestyle Dream Kitchen features all the devices, appliances and fittings you would expect to see in a real kitchen interior. There’s an oven, a microwave, a refrigerator, sink, cupboards, overhead light and phone. A 37 piece accessory set which includes bowls, cups and cutlery are also present and together with the steel, wood and granite décor effects, the kid’s play kitchen is a highly realistic toy for your little child. However, that’s not all, for what distinguishes this play set from others are the cool sound effects.

When a toy pan or pot is placed on one of the stove burners, a sound effect is heard, imitating the sound of either boiling water or that of a frying pan, depending on which burner it is placed. The microwave and phone also have distinct sounds which will delight children and make the overall kitchen very realistic and familiar. An overhead light switches on and off whilst various knobs and taps can be turned and pulled.

The play kitchen is extremely sturdy and faces up to rigorous play. It is large enough to keep a child entertained but small enough to be placed in just about any interior environment without become a burden. This means it can be situated in a living room, bedroom or playroom depending where the child’s activities are most often enjoyed.

Map of the World Kid’s Bedding Set from Designers Guild

Made from pure cotton, this Around the World kids bedding set is a sure way to entice your small child into appreciating the wonders of the world.  Author of this article, he is telling ‘I remember when I was a little one, I’d pour over maps for hours on end, looking at the various countries, mountain ranges, cities and seas wondering who lived where and what scenery each place presented’ like that. This was most definitely inspired by the map books and kid’s decorative accessories my parents bought me.
You can also plant the seeds of learning in your child’s mind with this fun and aesthetically beautiful bedding set. Included in the set is a twin duvet cover, fitted sheet and a pillow case. There are optional extras in regards to the type of pillowcase you desire. On the top of the duvet cover there is represented a blue sea with the major continents of the world included. On each continent are a few images portraying the famous landmarks, animals and geographical features that are well-known to that particular part of the world.

For example, a panda sits in China; the Eiffel Tower stands tall over Western Europe; and what looks like a cityscape can be seen covering North America.

On the reverse is a complimenting print of waves boats and fish design which matches with the pillowcases. The bedding set is wonderfully charming and visually relaxing as well as being a great first step in your child’s interest in the wider world. It will be particularly suitable for a geography themed kid’s bedroom and will compliment bedside globe lamps, map wallpaper, flag décor and images of animals and places from different continents. I know for sure that I would have loved this map of the world bedding set as a child.
